It was recorded at the famed Tree Sound Studios outside of Atlanta. Click here for some pictures of the recording sessions. Our friend, John Holmes (no relation to the porn star), engineered and mixed the record.
John has worked with OutKast, Elton John, Whitney Houston, Peter Frampton, Indigo Girls, Collective Soul, Ludacris, Nas, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Zwan, Keith Sweat, Faith Evans, Bubba Sparxxx, Nappy Roots, G-Love & Special Sauce, Delta Moon, Donna Hopkins and Snake Oil Medicine Show. When you have names to drop like that, we thought they were worth mentioning.
Georgia Music Hall of Fame member, Rodney Mills, mastered the record. In his storied career he has worked with The Meters, James Brown, Aquarium Rescue Unit, REM, Rage Against the Machine, Curtis Mayfield, Gregg Allman, Journey, .38 Special, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the list goes on and on (no really, it does)…..
Matt Stallard (International Groove Conspiracy) plays electric & upright bass on the EP and Chad Jackson (Ancient Harmony) makes a guest appearance on percussion.
A majority of the EP was recorded live, usually first or second takes and while there are little farts and hiccups that most likely only we can hear, we are real happy with the results. In the end, we didn't want to trade the energy or vibe of a "live" performance for a pristine and possibly life-less recording.
